Beginning in 1995, The Fabulous Mid Life Crisis Band has become one of the most successful acts in Oklahoma winning numerous awards and receiving much recognition. The members all had bands in high school and college, in the ’90’s the original band members started out in a garage owned by their former guitarist and founding member Steve Lee. Regular rehearsals solidified the bands sound and they started venturing out playing around Tulsa. Early on it was suggested that the band change their name and with a good laugh “THE FABULOUS MID LIFE CRISIS BAND” became their moniker. Now, it’s been a few decades and with a few personnel changes along the way, the band is stronger and more popular than ever. The band is always thankful for the support of their fans who make it all worthwhile.

Mark Gibson is a singer/songwriter from Tulsa, OK. Over the years, he's been in solo and band projects that contained a wide array of sounds and influences. After the release of his first solo album, "Beautifully Deconstructed," (2012) which still contained influences of bands like U2 and Coldplay, he decided it was time to define his own sound. Gibson's love for music began with the guitar, so it seemed like the right place to start. He quickly realized that when he just played for himself at home, he naturally played bluesy and soul-tinged riffs. He decided to explore those sounds further, and what he discovered was a more rhythmic and soulful approach to playing and songwriting. When he played and sang in that manner, it felt like he was coming home.

Music wasn’t just another option in Dustin Pittsley’s head. It was the only option. The Tulsa-based musician, 33, has been at it for nearly 20 years, and his band’s ready to release its self-titled effort. “Dustin Pittsley Band” is a collection of confident rock material with a funky, Americana twist.
The record’s official release date is Nov. 11 via Horton Records but you can stream the album highlight “Satellite” below.
“I started writing ‘Satellite’ because I didn’t know what direction to start taking the new music in,” Pittsley said in a phone interview.

In Bixby, OK, the biggest event of the summer is the annual GREEN CORN FESTIVAL. Held in June in downtown Bixby, it is a true “community celebration” dating back to the area’s agricultural heritage.
The Festival is designed as good, old fashioned, family-oriented fun. Starting at 6 p.m. Thursday night it features live music, arts and crafts, food and a carnival. A talent show, to highlight area youth, is held on Friday at the Bixby Community Center. The Green Corn parade entertains the crowds Saturday morning before a day of great games and contests for the young and young at heart.
Charley Young Park’s gazebo stage in downtown Bixby (1 block south and east of 151st and Memorial Dr.) is the site of on-going live music throughout the festival. The park is surrounded by food and craft booths and is the site of most of the festival’s games and contests. Just a hop and skip to the north is the carnival … can’t miss the ferris wheel. Cool off during the heat of the day Saturday afternoon by joining in a few games of Bingo at the Bixby Community Center.
